Diversity Master Class 2006

Public Sector Providers hosted a Masterclass conference on Diversity on 1 November 2006 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham. The conference included a mix of high profile keynote speakers and interactive workshops

Waqar Azmi

Waqar Azmi OBE, Chief Diversity Adviser to the Government, opened the conference by talking about the importance of integrating good diversity practice into all activities, not merely being concerned with legislation compliance or ticking boxes. He shared success stories from the implementation of the Civil Service's "Delivering a Diverse Civil Service - A 10-Point Plan"

Judith Cork

Judith Cork, from the Employers Forum on Age, gave an entertaining talk on the implementation of the new Employment Regulations on Age. Scotland)



Becca Singh

Becca Singh, Equality Duty Manager from the Equal Opportunities Commission spoke about the forthcoming introduction of the positive duty on gender, due to come into force in April 2007.



Rory Heap

Rory Heap from the Disability Rights Commission gave examples of good practice regarding the new positive duties being introduced to the Disability Discrimination Act this December.

Jane Hatton

Jane Hatton, Managing Director of Public Sector Providers Ltd. gave examples of how effective training could contribute to culture change in an organisation wishing to embrace diversity.

Delegates attended a variety of interactive workshops exploring some of the practical issues around diversity, and were able to network and share best practice ideas with other delegates.
