All of the training and consultancy services we offer are tailor-made to meet the specific requirements of the client, in measurable and sustainable ways. Capacity-building is incorporated into all designs, so that the organisation is left with the ability to continue learning and improving independently of external intervention.
Whilst each intervention is, by its very nature, unique, here are some examples of the kind of work we have undertaken:
Equality and Diversity.
We are working with a rural local authority, who have committed to improve their performance around equality and diversity. We designed a comprehensive programme for this client, which included:
- Conducting briefing sessions for the Strategic Management Team and Heads of Service to agree their leadership roles in diversity and equality;
- Facilitating a “Managers’ Forum” to introduce the wider Diversity programme, engage managers and enable them to help shape the future programme, encouraging ownership and buy-in;
- Designing and delivering half-day workshops> for managers in smaller groups to explore their role in leading and managing diversity;
- Empowering managers, with appropriate support, to involve their teams in the diversity agenda – finding the balance between training which was consistent across the organisation whilst being tailored to the context of each individual team;
- Training appropriate personnel in conducting Equality Impact Assessments (as required by the Race Relations [Amendment] Act 2000);
- Advising on a “quality control” process for the evaluation of Equality Impact Assessments;
- Facilitating discussions with the Equality Steering Group to agree their role and terms of reference;
- Facilitating initial workshops with Elected Members to explore the organisational benefits of diversity, and their role as Community Leaders;
- Follow-up work with Elected Members using “Forum Theatre” (a highly participative and inter-active learning method using professional actors to explore issues on a number of levels.
Bespoke Management Development Programme
A Central Government Department were looking for a tailor-made Management Development Programme. We designed a bespoke programme which took into account the specific outcomes they were looking for, and also would enable them to develop internal resources to continue the learning once we had left.
Activities included:
- A conference for strategic managers exploring leading-edge thinking on leadership issues;
- Profiling for managers, with one-to-one feedback sessions to agree personal development plans;
- Management Development Workshops designed after a comprehensive training needs analysis was undertaken to establish the skills required by managers to take the organisation to where it needed to be;
- Individual executive coaching (face-to-face, telephone and email coaching);
- Action Learning Sets (initially facilitated by our Consultants, but moving towards the Sets working independently);
- The use of Learning Logs;
- A dedicated website with learning resources for delegates;
- Training suitable delegates to become executive coaches, so that by the end of the programme executive coaching could be resourced internally.
